Trinity's 7th birthday party went off without a hitch. Everything came together nicely, or as nicely as I could make it. We had a bounce house, let the kids make their own "mermaid munch" (Trinity's favorite princess is The Little Mermaid), had Ocean Water as a drink (Blue Hawaiian punch and sprite), and had cake.
Which was horrible.
I didn't make it.
I ordered it from a bakery here in town. As soon as I opened the box, I thought "Wow, this smells like play doh! My nose must be really off today!" Then one of the kids said, "Hey! Who has play doh?". This should've been my first clue, but it wasn't. We sung to her, cut up the cake, then dished it out. Then one after another, every child said they didn't like the cake. I thought maybe it was too sweet, or maybe they just wanted to go through their gift bags and stuff. After I tasted the cake, I realized what they were saying.
It tasted exactly how it smelled.
I was dumbfounded. Who does that? Needless to say, I called and complained, and got a refund for both the cake, and the cupcakes I had sent to school with Trinity the day before.
Everyone who RSVP'd showed up- no one showed up without RSVPing (I figured at least one would). She had a smaller party- about 6 friends showed up. They had a blast playing together. There was one little girl who annoyed me to no end- she said she was hungry from the start of the party until the end. Her mom didn't feed her lunch before she came, which I thought was weird. She followed me around constantly asking for food, then tried to open Trinity's presents. It made me glad I got out of the daycare/preschool scene when I did, because other people's kids annoy me.
All and all, she had a blast. I can't believe my "baby" is 7 already! Her life has been amazing, but I know its going to get so much better. I can't wait to see the awesome person she becomes. Anyone who is in her life is truly blessed, there is no doubt about that!
