Blame the Cows.

So, I'm sure you know, the president of Chick-fil-A went all political and spoke his mind.

Gasp. The horror!

Due to this, people all over the country are either crying fowl and demanding a boycott, or praising him. Is it weird that I don't really care?

It's no secret that I am a proud follower of God. I believe what I believe based on the Bible. However, what people do in their own homes or to themselves, provided it doesn't harm another person, is none of my business. Abortion? Yes, it harms others- I care. Gay marriage? Doesn't bother me in the least. The only way it will affect me is if Scott goes and takes a man, but I am fairly certain hell will freeze over before that happens.

Yes. I know what the bible says. It also says that I am to love everyone as I love myself, and that I am not the final judger.

I do, however, find it hilarious that people are all "ACCEPT ME OR DIE, THESE ARE MY BELIEFS!!! LISTEN!!!!" Then when someone speaks their own beliefs, they are all "YOU SHALL DIE!!!". Yes, that is being slightly dramatic, but you get my drift. How are we supposed to demand that one side be heard when we try to shut the opposing side down?

I have a fb friend who recently posted something about the guy who owns Progressive Insurance. Evidently, he's a liberal (dirty word to her, I guess- I never even knew she was a republican- haha). Anyways, so she posts this and demands that any "true" republican ditch Progressive because of his political stance. Then today, she posts how stupid people are for wanting to boycott Chick-fil-A.

Hypocritical much?

Can you imagine an America where we refuse to let people speak their mind? Where we force everyone to conform to one belief? Where we condemn anyone who is not the same as us? Isn't that exactly why America was founded? To be free? Why are we reverting?

Yes, I understand that gay marriage is extremely important to some people. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. If you get married, fine. If not, fine. It doesn't affect me. It isn't going to change my life, my relationship with God, or my final outcome. It isn't going to change anything about me. It isn't hurting people. It isn't causing someone physical harm. So frankly, I just don't care. Maybe that is wrong of me, but its how I feel.

I think before people get all boycott happy, they should look at the other side. The dude never said that he would like to see everyone who is gay burned in town square. He never said that they are an abomination or going to hell. He just stated what he believes- what many Christians believe. If the gay community wants their voices heard, why wouldn't they want the other side heard as well? If the guy was being mean or hateful, then by all means, ban the establishment. But just because he spoke his values and his beliefs? Isn't that a bit extreme? As the saying goes "you catch more flies with honey"- why not be nice, except his beliefs as his own, and continue to take a stand about your own beliefs? Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs- if you want yours heard, you have to let others speak theirs as well.

I don't know- I don't get the hoopla. I'm betting its the cows fault. Its always the cows fault.
