Birth or Not

I suppose I should preface this by saying that this is not an abortion debate. I, for one, and pro-life, however I don't judge those that have had abortions. It is my belief that they will be judged by the only one who counts, so it really isn't my place.

However, this couple should be knocked upside the head. Several times.

While scrolling through a local news website, I saw this story. To sum it up, this couple tried to have a baby twice. They miscarried both times. They got pregnant again, but are now questioning whether they want to change their current lifestyle by bringing another person into it. So they created a website to have people vote on whether or not they should have an abortion. According to their website, the last day for them to legally have an abortion in Minnesota would be December 9th. That day would make her 20 weeks pregnant.

I don't care what your stance on abortion is, making a public vote is just wrong. If it is a publicity stunt, like so many have suggested, then they deserve to be punished. On the off chance that it is a real thing, they don't deserve to have the baby. Obviously, I voted not to have an abortion. I feel like the state should step in as soon as that baby is born and take it from the couple.

Either way, the child is screwed. Either it gets murdered (sorry, but at 20 weeks, when its nearly viable outside of the womb, its murder) or it is born into a family that couldn't even make up their mind on whether to have it or not, so they left it's fate up to the world. Then, 14 years down the road, the kid decides to google his "parents" ( I use the term loosely), only to find out that his parents weren't sure if they wanted him.

How is this kid's life going to play out? Is every aspect of parenting going to be left to a vote?

During an interview, the "mom" (again, loosely) said that she felt attached to the baby when she looked at sonogram pictures. Um, then why are you threatening to off it?

Honestly, the whole thing makes me sick, publicity or not. I probably shouldn't be writing about it. I'm sure the couple want people to talk about it. I've been thinking about it for over a week now, and I just can't shake the thoughts.

Seriously, people should have to have a license to have kids.
